Corsica Linea

Secure and centralize the management of internal and external access to sensitive servers.

cyberelements Cleanroom is a proven solution for securing access to our sensitive data by both internal administrators and external providers. It’s a reliable solution, with 99.99% availability, and has become essential to the operation of our company.

About Corsica Linea

Corsica Linea is a maritime transport company operating between mainland France, Corsica, and North Africa (Tunisia and Algeria). It provides passenger transport as part of its public service mission, as well as freight transport (including food, materials, and energy) to ensure territorial continuity with Corsica. Operating a fleet of 9 vessels, the company has launched a major environmental transition plan, with a commitment to reduce its CO₂ emissions by 40% by 2030.

The challenge: securing internal and external access to sensitive data

Within the Infrastructure & Operations team—responsible for IT system infrastructure, workstations, compliance, and project management for new vessels—Benjamin Pons serves as CISO. In this role, he and his team sought a solution to secure access to the company’s sensitive data for both internal administrators and external service providers.

Securing internal and external access to sensitive machines

The Corsica Linea teams wanted to enhance the security of access to the company’s sensitive servers by eliminating direct access and implementing a solution that would provide greater control and traceability. The goal was also to manage all access—whether internal or external, on land or at sea—through a centralized system.

Eliminate third-party solutions for managing provider access.

To grant access to service providers needing to reach sensitive servers, the Corsica Linea teams had been using third-party solutions such as TeamViewer. They wanted to move away from this practice, which posed a risk to the company by allowing access to the entire network, rather than restricting it to only the resources required by the provider. Additionally, these accesses remained active unless manually revoked.

Meet the mobility needs of IT administrators

The IT teams at Corsica Linea regularly travel across all company sites and therefore needed the ability to remotely access all servers in order to carry out their tasks effectively.

Why did Corsica Linea choose cyberelements Cleanroom to secure third-party access ?

After evaluating several solutions, Corsica Linea chose cyberelements Cleanroom for its functional coverage, which fully met the team’s expectations, as well as for its ease of implementation.

A single solution to secure access for both internal administrators and external providers

Today, cyberelements Cleanroom enables centralized management of both internal access (a dozen accounts) and service provider access (around twenty accounts) to the organization’s sensitive servers, whether it’s RDP, SSH, or VNC access. All of these accesses are exclusively via the HTML5 portal, which offers three tiles: one for internal administrators, one for service providers, and one for occasional users who might, for example, need to manage badge assignments. This allows users to access all the resources they need, and only those resources, with a single click to perform their tasks. The use of the password vault also improves the user experience, as they no longer need to remember passwords, which are automatically injected when they want to access their resources, and they can even save their own passwords there.

Implementing MFA to strengthen security during authentication.

The Corsica Linea teams have strengthened authentication security for the cyberelements Cleanroom portal by implementing a second authentication factor. The solution’s flexibility, which supports numerous MFAs, allowed them to differentiate this second factor based on the user’s profile to adapt to their specific uses. Thus, Corsica Linea’s internal administrators use Google Authenticator, which was already deployed within the company, while service providers use a CAPTCHA to limit intrusion or brute-force attempts.

Secure Management of Vendor Access

cyberelements Cleanroom enhances the security of vendor access by allowing you to pre-configure several elements, such as:

  • The time slots during which the vendor is allowed to access.

  • Ensuring the granted access is a unique, non-persistent access.

  • Requiring a second validation with a notification sent to the Corsica Linea team, allowing them to manually grant or deny the vendor access.

The password vault also helps prevent the disclosure of resource access passwords to vendors, which in turn reduces the need for teams to change them too frequently.

What are the current benefits of cyberelements?

Secure and centralized management of sensitive data access

cyberelements Cleanroom helps secure access to the company’s sensitive servers and centralizes the management of these accesses, regardless of the user’s profile—whether an internal administrator or an external service provider. The video recording of sessions with the advanced search feature is particularly valued by the teams. “As soon as we notice a mishandling or an error, the search functionality within the recorded sessions allows us to very quickly and easily pinpoint the exact moment it happened to see the action that was performed or the command that was typed, and thus resolve the problem,” explains Benjamin Pons. The teams also use these recordings as procedures they can review when they need to reproduce complex actions.

A single modus operandi for managing vendor access

cyberelements Cleanroom has allowed the teams to “clean house” among all the methods previously used to manage their vendor access. They now have a single modus operandi for providing these accesses, which are now much better controlled thanks to features like recording, granting one-time access, and controlling access authorization requests. “It’s truly reassuring to know that we don’t need to install third-party tools to manage these accesses, which could linger on machines and potentially be reused later. cyberelements Cleanroom is now an indispensable solution for our company’s operations,” emphasizes Benjamin Pons.

cyberelements Cleanroom also enhances the user experience for vendors, making them more autonomous as they access the resources to be administered with a simple click on the portal, without needing to know IP addresses or passwords to access servers.

Furthermore, the implementation of cyberelements Cleanroom now allows vendors to remotely intervene on ships at sea, which was extremely complicated to manage before the implementation of this privileged access management solution.

An increased level of control and security that helps reduce cyber insurance premiums.

“With cyberelements Cleanroom, we know in real-time who is connected to which server. The solution gives us more visibility, more traceability, and therefore more security,” explains Benjamin Pons. The solution also securely supports mobile usage, as it’s natively built on a Zero Trust foundation for remote access, allowing mobile administrators to connect to sensitive servers regardless of their access context.

And by strengthening the security level of access to sensitive servers with cyberelements Cleanroom, Corsica Linea was able to reduce its cyber insurance premium.
