The 4 Hands Feature:

Dual Oversight & Collaboration

Within a PAM scenario the term 4-hands refers to a scenario that requires dual oversight or collaboration between 2 individuals in order for the organization to have better operational control and security.

Dual Approval Process

The need to enhance security by requiring collaboration between 2 users in order to validate a highly critical or sensitive operation.  The purpose of this to ensure that no single individual has the ability to make these changes without a second person to verify or collaborate in the task.

Enhanced collaboration

With the 4 Hands approach you can have 2 engineers working together to analyze and respond to system events enabling a faster response and resolution for the organization.

The business challenge for organizations is having the tools to enable these users to easily and securely collaborate especially when they are working in different locations.  In these scenarios users can often revert to using common desktop sharing services which are insecure and do not conform to the compliance and auditing requirements for the organization.

cyberelements Is a SaaS Based Remote PAM Solution Dedicated To Solving These Business Challenges.

cyberelements 4-Hands feature is included in the PAM license and offers 3 distinct methods for users on the system to collaborate.

Request Assistance

  • Allows a user to request assistance from another authorized user during a session.
  • Both users can share the session and interact

In this example the first user launches an RDP privileged session and from the Active session can request assistance.

A user who has been authorized to assist can now see the notification in their portal and join the session.

Inviting Assistance

  • Allows a user to request assistance from another user who is not part of the organization i.e. 3rd-party.
  • Both users can share the session and interact

In this example the first user launches an SSH privileged session and from the Active session can request assistance by sending an invitation via email.

The external user receives a unique link with a password to connect for one-time only.

Admin Join

  • Allows a cyberelements admin to join a session from the control center console page.
  • Both users can share the session and interact

In this example the admin is logged into the cyberelements console and views the active sessions in the control center.  One of the available options is to “join the session” which takes the admin user directly into the session along side the logged in user.

All actions performed under 4-hands control are logged for auditing and included in the video archive and reports.  The feature can help organizations meet compliance requirements (e.g. SOX, GDPR, PCI DSS) by ensuring multiple parties are involved when working on sensitive operations.
